At the same time a collection of short stories and an encyclopedia, An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery is a ride through the evolution of the ten prevailingly Slavic nations of Europe: from aggressive warlords, to medieval kings, to freedom fighters, scientific innovators, and a guy that looks like Postman Pat. By rejecting the sterile language of the academy in favor of pungent humor, the book presents these fascinating historical personalities in a relaxed way.
We should add that John Bills, the British journalist and the associate to many online magazines and blogs, crowdfunded this book, and collected his Slavic experiences by living in Mostar, Belgrade, Ljubljana, and Prague.
