Muddy Fingers & the Sound of Roasted Land is a workshop for both children and adults, divided into a ceramics workshop and a sound playroom, both of which last for three days.
Visitors will work with clay on a pottery wheel and get to know the material, feel its character, and explore the possibilities of shaping the amorphous mass into a noble, sturdy material. The aim is to use the wheel to shape such forms that will make sounds while being baked, while similar ceramic objects with accompanying wooden drumsticks will be there as well, meant for freely making music and improvising.
Bojana Švertasek was born in 1952 in Zagreb, where she specialized ceramics design in the School of Applied Art and Design in 1972. She graduated as a painter from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1977, and took classes in lithography in 1979. In 1985, she was a stipendee of the Special Glass Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. She has exhibited on more than 160 group, author, and jury exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, and on 26 independent exhibitions (in Zagreb, Split, Mantova, Osijek, Vela Luka, and elsewhere). She’s been a member of ULUPUH since 1976, and of HDLU since 1981. She was a member of the HSZU until 2003, when she became a professor at the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb.
