Bagdad is a severely dilapidated industrial building of uncertain origin, ownership, and purpose, half-built and never finished, located in the large inner courtyard of Vlaška 79-81 A, on three floors with the impressive total area of 4200 m2.
Since 2013, there were several initiatives to renovate, upgrade, and organize Bagdad (as named by the locals) into a multifunctional youth center, as proposed by the Metronom organization and Za Grad political party. Unfortunately, cleaning the location was the most these initiatives achieved (which, considering the state of the location, was an endeavor in and of itself). The ruined building’s walls were occasionally painted on by street artists, who left behind some interesting pieces; however, this was generally the only mark that culture managed to leave there. The future of Baghdad remains unknown and whether that venue has potential to be anything more is yet to be seen.
