The news about the new place in the neighbourhood spread fast among the locals, and a visit to antiquarian bookshop has become an unavoidable ritual for many.
The antiquarian bookshop Bibliofil.hr in Bauerova Street is the brick and mortar version of the eponymous online store, specialised in selling signed copies of books, first, rare and special editions, avant-garde and neo-avant-garde publications and periodicals, autographs, documents and commemorative items. The enthusiastic founder and owner of Bibliofil.hr is Dražen Dabić, former director of the Profil Bookstore and the Školska knjiga bookstore network, experienced bookseller and antiquarian. This store is dominated by fiction, books from the field of visual and performing arts, architecture, photography and arts in general.
In addition, Dabić’s work includes a small, but ambitious publishing activity, publishing three to six books per year, also in the sphere of avant-garde and arts, but also domestic poetry. One of the first editions is testimony that no one will be left behind — a poetry and photography monograph Alone in This Woods by Drago Glamuzina and Stanko Abadžić, with a foreword by Zoran Ferić. The edition is a bibliophile’s dream, printed on fine paper, and bound in black and red linen. Red and black are also the colours of the visual identity of the bookstore, whose interior emanates a special meditative atmosphere, recognised by its patrons.
