The printmakers’ and publishers’ union is, with its 147 years of constant activity, the oldest union in Croatia and beyond, established as the Croatian Typographic Society.
It is worth mentioning that the Union has organized its first strike in 1872, asking for an increase of daily wages in five Zagreb printing shops. Today, the Union has more than 3000 members, and continues to represent their interests in printing and publishing. The building that still houses the Home of the Union was built in 1938. Next to the Union, the building is occupied by KUD Sloga (Cultural-artistic society, 151 years old), as well as by the famous Grafičar mountaineering society.
